Exploring water and inks.

I started using acrylic inks in water to create visuals that could represent depth, form and various blends of colours most prominent in the oceans.

These images could be used to represent not only the ocean, but space, alien worlds and forms that we might only find in those distant reaches.

These first two were happy accidents, and at first I wasn’t really sure of what I was trying to show. After some thought and observation, the theme of the ocean as a frontier akin to space was formed.

These next two images were made with a little more intention in mind. Using layering and adding ink to the same bowl, I wanted to try and capture a representation of development on a cellular level. Life at its most basic.

I want to explore these methods in more depth and try to find where they may fit in as far a contextualisation goes.
