Many creatures produce their own light, called bioluminescence. This natural phenomenon helps many organisms to defend themselves, hunt for food, or find mates in the deep sea where no sunlight can illuminate their surroundings.

The creatures that dwell in the deep represent only a small portion of what our oceans may hold in regards to life. Every dive made into the abyss yields impressive findings of new species. Both of the jellyfish above aren’t biologically accurate, but they represent an idea that there is still so much to be discovered in the deep.
